The Muppets

The Muppets were created in 1955 by Jim Henson. Spending most of the 60s making appearances in commercials, and on talk shows, the Muppets found initial success with Sesame Street which premiered on PBS in 1969.  In the mid 1970s, the Muppet Show debuted on ABC. Running for 5 seasons, the show catapulted the Muppets to further stardom. In the 70s, Grover strayed away from the Muppets, acting in Mike Nichols hit comedy Catch-22, a movie adaptation of the classic novel. The Muppets had planned to reunite after filming wrapped for Grover, to work on new material. Production of the movie ran over the initial schedule, meaning any creative output of the Muppets was put on further hold. Upon returning the group, Grover and his pals were ultimately able to record what would end up being their final album together, 1970s Bridge Over Troubled Water
